“A loaf of bread, a jug of wine and thou” – Saturday, 18th April 2015

Quote by Omar Khayyam (1048 – 1131)

Good Morning All

Today I got a sleep-in, which was wonderful. I’m still in bed which is even nicer. It has been a busy week work-wise for me, which is actually getting me frustrated as I feel I’m in front of the computer more than I want to be. But I know it won’t always be like this, so I just need to live with it for the moment. So what else has happened in my week?

I made an interesting bread this week, banana and cardamon (which I have discovered is also called cardamom). This bread worked out fantastic (see the photos) and the taste has been incredible. Despite having no sugar in the bread it has an amazing sweet taste. I will admit though, you do tend to taste the cardomon more than the banana.

I also got out into the potage to get that cleared and the soil turned over. The seedlings will be going in today. My courgette plants really need to get into the ground and so do my turnips. I have some other seedlings that have come up in my herb selection which I’m not 100% sure what they are, but I guess I’ll find out as they grow.

I did also get the clothes in my wardrobe sorted, which I am really pleased about. I also did a clear out on items that I’m just not wearing – which has included 6 pairs of shoes. So now most of my business clothes have gone – I’ve kept a couple of items for business but not much. It has made me realise how much my life has changed since we started this adventure.

One thing I did realise the other day was that we have been in our house now for just over a year. It doesn’t really feel like it. In some ways it doesn’t feel like we have done much to the house and garden in that time and in other ways it feels like we have done a lot. I think that, that is because I keep thinking of what is to be done rather than what has been done.

One of my jobs for this week is getting Pat’s 60th birthday organised! We’re not doing anything big, just a meal out with a few people and hopefully we will try and find some live music that we can go listen too. But I also have the joy of trying to find a present for the man who has everything he needs (or wants). Perhaps a nice bottle of wine??

Until next week
