39 days to Christmas – Saturday, 15th November 2014

Good Morning readers

Sorry for the reminder about how close Christmas is, but this week I actually wrote out my Christmas cards. I’m starting early partly because we will be away for Christmas (finding a house sitter has been a saga) visiting my family in Australia. As it turns cold here I am really looking forward to some warmth for Christmas. I’ve promised Pat that I will take him down the beach on Christmas day for a swim. Which of course, is what I remember doing as a child. We are really looking forward to seeing my family.

So what else has happened this week? Well one night I took our lovely Siena outside for her toilet break and we both could hear the strangest sound. I couldn’t quite figure out what it was, it sounded like birds, but I’ve always thought that birds just don’t fly at night. I mentioned it at my art class and got informed that it was the cranes migrating. You can see them during the day, but they are quite high up. So while we haven’t seen them yet, we have definitely heard them. They return at the end of February and this is apparently one of the signs that people look forward to as it means spring is just around the corner. I’ve now done some research of where they are heading, some will stay in the south-west of France and some continue on to Spain. I found this page informative:

One of the stranger things I did this week was google “death date” try it, you get all these calculators coming up that allow you to calculate your date of death! Yes it is a bit morbid but absolutely fascinating. One of the most interesting things I found is that if you have an optimistic outlook it can add a substantial amount of time to the date you are given. They are fun, but the results do fluctuate quiet a lot between calculators, I’ve had 2031, 2037 and 2053. I’m opting for the 2053 since I got that twice on two of the calculators.

Some of you may have noticed that I’ve changed my photo at the top of my blog. I’ve decided I’m going to do this at least once a year. This was a photo taken during summer this year when my dad was visiting. We were sitting outside at a lovely restaurant in Brantome (a wonderful place but heaving with visitors in summer). I just liked this photo and thought that it showed a little bit of France.

On to the last bit of news that happened this week. I have got myself a job :-). I’ve been working as a Virtual Assistant for myself over the past 18 months and now I will be joining the Kaleidoscope Virtual Assistant Services team. I’m really looking forward to this new adventure in my life.

So on a cold, wet day in France, I shall sign off for another week, unfortunately no photos of cranes to add, but a couple of the lovely autumn colours around our hamlet.
