Ok I loaded this on on Friday…
Hello Readers,
As some of you are aware we had building work start this week, as we have had a window put in on our upstairs landing. Thankfully this hasn’t taken too long, but we got to see exactly how thick our stone walls are. The light and the view are well worth the money spent to get the window put in. The down side of building work however is the dust! The entire house has been covered in dust. We finally got to clean the house today which was so nice. There are a couple of photos of the new window at the bottom on the page (yes I’m boring).
I got so caught up with telling you all about the dog last week that I forgot to mention a few things from last week. One being that I attempted to bake soda bread for the first time! It wasn’t too bad, totally edible, but will have to try again as it was a little cakey. You can blame The Great British Bakeoff for the resurgence of my baking (I also made scones).
The other thing I did was to attempt to create what is termed a “capsule” wardrobe with my clothes. For those of you who don’t know what a capsule wardrobe is, it is an idea of having a limited number of clothes in which all the tops match all the bottoms and you don’t have to worry about what you are wearing, basically just throw on a top and a bottom and it all goes together. I have a few more t-shirts than most would have, but then I dress casual most days so I need more than I guess a lot of people. I also realised from doing this that most of my jeans require me to be wearing some type of heel – which is really daft when I live in flats. I will also admit to the fact that I have not thrown any of my other clothes out, they are just currently in storage. It will be interesting to see if any of these make their way back into my wardrobe. My wardrobe also seems to be very winter based, most likely something to do with living in the UK for 10 odd years. With the odd exceptions my wardrobe does seem to be working so overall I am pleased.
If you have any desire to find out more about this type of thing, in my searching on-line I came across an Australian blog which I found useful, but I thought this article was the best because it really shows how things can go together well and not cost a fortune. The clothes aren’t necessarily to my style but it does show how this type of thing can work.
The other thing that I have done this week, well at least started to do, is set up a Zazzle shop on the Zazzle website. Now I know most of you have not heard of Zazzle, I hadn’t until recently, but it is a website that sells gifts (anything from a t-shirt to a mug to a bag), however I can load my photos and images for use as designs. So I have started loading some photos and art work that I think work well and I will continue to add items to this site over the next few weeks. Any feedback on my items would be appreciated (good or bad).

We had a rather amazing thunderstorm on Thursday night, it was in the distance so Pat and I went out and took some photos. His are much better than mine, but I got a few – along with numerous shots of a black sky. My best one is below.
Also the last thing for this week, yes we still have the puppy, she has now been microchiped and is now officially ours J. She still has not been vaccinated as the vet wants to wait another month. She is learning fast and is mostly house trained (bonus) but still likes to bite, slowly getting her out of this habit, but it is not easy. She also had to have another bath this week as she decided that under our workman’s truck was a really good place to explore and she got covered in black dust and the like (thankfully no grease).
My walking has also been going well with the exception of Wednesday and Thursday, but now back on track so really pleased. (9121 steps on Friday).
Till next week.
Thanks for linking to my blog on capsule wardrobes – I’ve also made a video on the topic too if that’s of use to you!
